Kato Kiyomasa, builder of Kumamoto Castle, is joined by rotating cast of ten historical compatriots for this exciting and educational performance.

    and 2:00PM (15 minute show)

Come watch Kumamoto City's mascot Higomaru and his pal Arisa sing and dance. Everyone is welcome.

Resumption of Normal Operating Hours & COVID-19 Precautions at Josaien

Josaien Operating Hours

Josaien shops and restaurants have now resumed normal operating hours.

Starting July 2022:
Shops: 9AM-6PM
Restaurants: 11AM-6PM (reservations required after 6PM)

Precautions Taken at Josaien

  • Staff are instructed to wash their hands with soap, gargle, use disinfectant spray on hands, and be mindful when coughing.
  • Disinfectant spray is available at convenient locations throughout Josaien for use by visitors.
  • Please maintain distance between others when standing in line.

By Shinkansen: Shinkansen to JR Kumamoto Station. East Exit to Tram Line, board A or B towards Kengun. Get off at Kumamoto Castle/City Hall stop. Cross street toward Castle and follow signs to Sakuranobaba Josaien.

By Bus: Board bus to Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Get off at Sakuramachi Bus Terminal, head towards Castle, follow signs to Sakuranobaba Josaien.
